Upwork Lowers Fees to Retain Biggest Contracts

The larger and more unique the relationship between the freelancer and buyer, the more replaceable the intermediary becomes. To hang on to its most valuable contracts, Upwork will be moving away from a flat 10% fee to a sliding scale that will see contracts $10K lifetime and above pay 5% to the platform.

It’s a wise move to protect their most profitable relationships, and signifies the power that freelancers have after reaching a level of longevity and trust with a buyer.
